Forget everything you've heard about "hacking reach"
The LinkedIn algorithm isn't a riddle to crack β it's a ranking system for professional relevance. Those who try to optimize reach directly create empty noise. Those who consistently serve a clear audience build a community that grows on its own.
The first 60β90 minutes after posting determine 70% of total reach. The algorithm shows your post to only 2β5% of your network first. Only if THEY engage does it spread further.
π Saves & Sends (5x more valuable than likes) Β· π¬ Deep comments (8β15x more weight) Β· β±οΈ Dwell time Β· π― Expertise match (+40%) Β· π€ Profile visits

Phase 1: Positioning β before you write the first post
If you stand for everything, you stand for nothing. LinkedIn rewards topical consistency. Answer these three questions before you start:
The topic you want to be known for. Most of your energy goes here.
Complements your core expertise and expands your audience.
Shows the person behind the expertise. Opinions, stories, reflections.
Phase 2: The first thing people check after a good post
Profiles at 100% completion get up to 71% more reach. The algorithm checks your profile against your posts β the better they match, the more expertise congruence.
Professional, face visible, friendly. Must match your positioning.
Communicates your positioning visually. Core topic + call-to-action.
NOT the job description! Your value proposition + core keywords.
First person. Structure: Hook β What I do β Credentials β What you'll find β CTA.
Your best 5β6 pieces. Update every 4β6 weeks.
Phase 3: Content architecture β system beats inspiration
The first 210 characters are the "See more" cutoff. 72% of LinkedIn usage is mobile β you have 7 seconds of scan time.
NEVER start with "I" β leads to lower click-through rate. Stay under 200 characters. The 3-2-1 rule: Write 3 hooks, pick the strongest. Include 2 concrete takeaways. End with 1 clear call-to-action.
Phase 4: Engagement system β commenting is the fastest path
Find 3β5 relevant posts in your topic lanes. Focus on accounts with large audiences.
Add your experience, respectfully disagree, ask follow-up questions, or add context.
Especially in the first hour after your own post β create conversation depth!
Identify 20β30 accounts whose audience overlaps with yours. Comment there REGULARLY β not once, but weekly. This builds relationship density, and the algorithm shows your content to these contacts more often.
Phase 5+6: Nurture community and analyze reach
Followers are rent, email list is ownership. LinkedIn can change the algorithm anytime. Your newsletter stays.
π Valuable post
π Offer lead magnet
π§ Email list grows
π Exclusive depth
π€ Real relationships
The strongest signal. If someone saves, the content was reference-worthy.
Substantive conversations > emoji reactions. Are 3+ sentences being written?
Shows genuine interest. If many visit your profile after a post, the content converts.
The strongest conversion signal. If people message you, you're ready for Phase 7.
Phase 7: Monetization β never sell before you've earned trust
Build trust. This is where you are now. 90% of your energy.
Build email list. Checklist, framework, PDF in exchange for address.
First revenue: course, e-book, template. Start small, iterate.
Higher revenue per customer. Content β DMs β Discovery call β Consulting.
Recurring revenue. The ultimate discipline.
Only monetize when at least 3 of these signals are present: (1) People ask for offers in DMs, (2) 500+ newsletter subscribers, (3) Posts regularly get saves, (4) You have 5+ regulars, (5) You understand your audience's problem from hundreds of conversations. LinkedIn building takes 6β12 months for real traction.

Not everything at once. Pick ONE thing from this course and implement it this week. Next week the next. System beats inspiration β and small, consistent steps beat big, one-time actions.
