Deep Dive

Time & Confidence

Why knowledge has an expiry date and not every piece of information is equally certain.

01
Three Time Layers

Each node can carry: source date (when published?), validity window (from/until when?), and temporal confidence (explicit, inferred, unknown).

You: "Context Memory: Per McKinsey March 2025, 12% of utilities use AI. Valid for Q1 2025."

Claude: Saved with:
  source_date: 2025-03
  valid_from: 2025-Q1
  temporal_confidence: explicit
02
Time Series, Not Contradictions

28B and 34B are not conflicts when source dates differ. The skill treats them as a time series. The newer value supersedes the older one.

[cfg-001] Revenue 28B ← Q2 2024
[cfg-002] Revenue 34B ← Q2 2025

cfg-002 supersedes cfg-001
→ Not a contradiction: +6B in 12 months
03
Confidence vs. Relevance

A node can be highly relevant but uncertain. Or low-relevance but confirmed. Two independent axes. Confidence levels: high, medium, low, unknown.
